The CEO of Paytm says we won’t be able to tell if we’re speaking to a human or a robot anytime soon.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma

Vijay Shekhar Sharma, the founder and CEO of Paytm, stated his worries about the development of artificial intelligence (AI). Artificial intelligence-generated content is widely available on social media sites these days. This technology is being used not only by creators of digital media but also by ordinary people to edit photographs, videos, and voices and to create captions. People can have difficulties telling the difference between content produced by AI and content created by humans since the results are so realistic. Sharma made the same point in one of his most recent.

The software entrepreneur claimed a Guardian piece that explained how “AI-generated slop is killing the internet.” More than 54% of lengthy English-language posts shared on LinkedIn, according to the survey, are produced by AI artificial intelligence.

According to WIRED, Originality AI, an AI detection business, supplied the data. The company examined 8,795 public LinkedIn postings with more than 100 words that appeared on the network between January 2018 and 2024 in order to assess the dominance of this technology.

The impact of AI writing tools used to be considered to be straightforward, but since the start of 2023, there have been more of these texts.”The increase occurred when ChatGPT was released,” stated Jon Gillham, CEO of Originality AI, to WIRED.Based on the data, an X user questioned whether social media might soon contain just AI-generated material.”Sharma shared the post again and hoped that people had the chance to filter social media posts by AI and humans”. “Unfortunately, you will not be able to tell if you are talking to a human or a bot anytime soon,” he told us.

For the X post, the Paytm CEO also provided a screenshot of how an AI chatbot named Grok suggested ideas to him in Hindi. “Bots are just bots. He responded, “Meet or write.” Users expressed warnings about the prevalence of AI techniques in social networking sites after his tweet quickly went popular.

“Are we entering a new era of huge enterprises with a single founder and AI controlling everything else?” one of them questioned. “There might be tools for this in the future,” another person suggested. You tag each post and respond with “possible bot” after evaluating a number of indicators, including (the post, grammar, response time, creation date, and image analysis).

Without a question, AI helps in the production of engaging content. It’s even used to spot emerging trends. Through the analysis of their interactions and behavior, the technology can also assist businesses in understanding the preferences of their clients.
