It is known that earlier, Elon Musk once said that he would “go to war” for the programme that brings skilled foreign workers into the US. The H-1B visa is a nonimmigrant visa that allows US employers to petition for nonimmigrant foreign workers to perform speciality occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise.
A few days after announcing that he would “go to war” for the H-1B visa, Elon Musk, the billionaire of Tesla, has now come out and said that the system is “broken” and in need of “major reform”.
According to Musk, who made very clear statements that the H-1B visa program is broken, it can be fixed by simply taking some measures. Once more, he proposed increasing the minimum salary and charging the H1B an annual fee.
Musk mentioned in addition that this would increase the hiring costs for companies employing foreign talent and force them to concentrate only on domestic laborers.
It can be easily solved by substantially increasing the minimum wage and adding an annual cost for maintaining the H1B, making such hiring prohibitively expensive as compared to domestic hiring. I have been very clear that the programme is ‘broken’ and requires major reforms,” Musk posted on X.
The H-1B isn’t the way for the United States to become a destination for “the world’s most elite talent,” according to this post on X, to which he replied. An H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows American firms to hire foreigners in speciality occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise.
Elon Musk previously declared that he would “go to war” to protect the program, which aids in attracting highly qualified overseas workers to the United States. “The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B,” Musk posted to X.
He declared, “I have always supported the visas and I have always enjoyed them. We have them for that reason,” Trump said in an interview. “My homes are home to numerous H-1B visas. I have been a supporter of H-1B. I’ve made extensive use of it. “It’s an excellent program,” he declared.
