Arkane co-founder says his new studio’s next game is now in production

Wolfeye Studios, co-founded in 2019 by Raphael Colantonio, the co-creator of Dishonored and Prey (and also a co-founder of Arkane Studios), announced on Thursday that it is developing a new game. This first-person action RPG is set in a retro sci-fi universe. Details are still limited.

This includes not only the title but also the release window. However, Colantonio mentioned a ‘limited private Alpha’ for the game, expected sometime in 2025. The studio’s news release confirmed that the project has moved beyond pre-production and is now ‘full steam ahead in production.’

“Wolfeye’s goal is to run an exclusive and limited private Alpha to help make the game the best it can be by getting community feedback early in the development process,” the studio stated. “This next game will be an ambitious new IP that offers a deep role-playing game, a rich and detailed world, and freedom of gameplay built upon the DNA of earlier Arkane games.”

What games has Raphael Colantonio created?

This second game follows Wolfeye’s debut title, Weird West, an isometric action RPG published by Devolver Digital in 2022 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions released a year later. Weird West was nominated for Best Role-Playing Game at the 2022 DICE Awards, though it faced tough competition from the winner, Elden Ring.

‘Fans of the past games I’ve worked on, like Dishonored and Prey, will feel right at home,’ Colantonio said in Wolfeye’s news release, ‘as will fans of RPGs in general.’

Colantonio noted that this new game currently does not have a publisher. On Tuesday, he hinted in an X post that ‘fans of the previous first-person games I was involved with will be pleased.’

Colantonio left Arkane in Lyon, France, in 2019 to co-found Wolfeye with Julien Roby, a former Arkane executive. Wolfeye is based in Austin, Texas. The Austin development studio at Arkane was closed in May following the underperformance of its Xbox Game Pass exclusive Redfall, which launched in 2023. While the rest of Arkane, a Bethesda Softworks subsidiary, remains open, it is assumed that some alumni from Arkane Austin may join this new project.
